BAY CITY, MI (June 6, 2017) – The all new Bay City Grand Prix powerboat race and waterfront music festival takes on a fresh look with new sponsors and expects the largest field of F1 ChampBoat powerboat racing teams in years for the 30th running on the Saginaw River June 23-25th in Veterans Memorial Park.
It was previously announced that the former producer of River Roar was cancelling the event for 2017 and shutting it down. IOGP, which recently relaunched the F1 ChampBoat Series, was in position to save the classic race event from fading away.
“It is our mission to bring the sport back to its former glory, and that means carrying the torch with some historic events and Bay City is one of the best that just can’t go away as it’s one of the most sacred and revered race sites in our sport”, stated IOGP President, Mike Schriefer.
New Official Partners joining in on the fun: Detroit Pistons, iHeart Radio, Real Flavors, and SVSU are just a few, along with long time event supporters Fabiano Brothers Distributing (Bud Light) and Kroger.
Veteran Champion Racer Chris Fairchild stated, “Drivers love Bay City as it’s one of the most challenging tunnel boat courses in the world, everyone wants to win Bay City, we can’t wait to get there!”
The event will also feature the all new Beach Party, which is a musical event on the riverfront. In addition to great bands Friday and Saturday night, DJFun will be cranking music during the day and after hours with the famed foam and paint party!
